Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Combs

Combs entered their tilt with ALA - Queen Creek on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the ALA - Queen Creek Patriots by a score of 41-33. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 43-31 back in January.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Combs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyssa Walters, who posted nine points and six rebounds. That's the most points Walters has posted since back in December of 2024. Heather Jo Bush was another key player, putting up seven points and 17 boards.

Combs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, ALA - Queen Creek saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tally Call earned seven points and five rebounds.

Combs' record is now 12-7. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-20 record this season.

Combs will take on Eastmark at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Eastmark's defense has only allowed 27 points per game this season, so Combs' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for ALA - Queen Creek, they will face off against Poston Butte at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. ALA - Queen Creek is facing Poston Butte at the right time seeing as Poston Butte is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
