Softball Recap: Susquenita Starts Season with Win Against Hershey

Susquenita took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Hershey Trojans with a sharp 20-2 victory.

Ayahna Fleisher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over four innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only one walk, the fewest she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Susquenita let Tierney Stuempfle and Joslyn Shutt run wild. Stuempfle scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Shutt scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Kaydon Brandt was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Susquenita kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Susquenita will take on Northern Lebanon at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hershey, they will head out to take on Central York at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
