Basketball Recap: Frederick Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Logan Gebs and Dante Lechuga

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Frederick can now relate to. They took a 71-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Green Mountain Rams on Friday. The Golden Eagles were down 59-39 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Frederick's loss came despite strong showings from Dante Lechuga and Logan Gebs. Lechuga posted 12 points, while Gebs earned nine points. Those nine points gave Gebs a new career-high. Austin Ledgerwood also deserves some recognition as he grabbed his first steal of the season.

Green Mountain was led to victory by Simon Lunsford and Jake Swanson. Lunsford went 9-for-16 on his way to 27 points and five boards, while Swanson dropped a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Lunsford now owns an excellent 41.1% three-point shooting accuracy. Ben Swanson was another key player, shooting 50% from the field to rack up 10 points and seven rebounds.

Frederick's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-12. As for Green Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season.

Frederick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Green Mountain, they will challenge Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Lutheran comes in on eight and Green Mountain on six.
