Preview: Cupertino Pioneers vs. Santa Clara Bruins

Cupertino has been on the road for two straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Santa Clara Bruins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cupertino is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Santa Clara in California (Cupertino is ranked 143rd, while Santa Clara is ranked 728th).

Last Tuesday, Cupertino beat Homestead 49-40.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cupertino to victory, but perhaps none more so than Max Feldan, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Soham Nighojkar, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Santa Clara's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their ninth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 47-30 to Fremont.

Cupertino's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.9 points per game. As for Santa Clara, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Cupertino beat Santa Clara 26-13 when the teams last played on January 5th. Will Cupertino repeat their success, or does Santa Clara have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
