League recap: Centura wins, gets boost in standings

C2 District 8 recap September 24, 2013

Centura was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from third to first in C2 District 8. The Centurions vanquished Superior 39-0 earlier in the week.

Centura took down the Wildcats 39-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Michael Hansen threw for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 58 yards during the win.

Greg Hansen's team's dynamic duo of Hansen and Travis Holcomb proved tough for Superior to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Jacob Osburn helped Centura's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 63 yards.

The Centurions' dynamic duo of Hansen and Holcomb proved to be unstoppable against Kevin Miller's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Holcomb had an awesome week catching the football as Centura defeated the Wildcats. He caught 9 passes for 216 yards.

Hansen put up the best numbers through the air as the Centurions topped Superior.

Chance Bock was a key player and the best on defense this week as Ravenna fell to St. Patrick's. The 5-foot-11 junior.

He went 13-21 with 1 interception.

Christian Lewis was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 22 carries, he ran for 130 yards as Southern Valley beat the Wildcats. Teammate Dylan Brooks added to the ground attack by rushing for 53 yards.

Holcomb was the best wideout in the league this week as the Centurions defeated Superior.

Centura's Hansen and Holcomb have formed a dream team this season, leading C2 District 8 in both passing and receiving yards. Hansen has thrown for 748 yards this season, while Holcomb, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 14 catches for 347 yards. Blue Hill's Keithen Drury leads the league in rushing yards with 368.

As it stands, the Bobcats are in second, while the Eagles are in fourth.

The Centurions led the league in scoring this week after putting up 39 points on the Wildcats. Hansen in the win.
