Basketball Recap: Benjamin Franklin Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bourgade Catholic last Thursday, Benjamin Franklin came back down to earth. The Benjamin Franklin Chargers took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the ALA - Ironwood Warriors. The Chargers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 50-48.

When it comes to explaining why Benjamin Franklin lost on Wednesday, don't look at Talan Speir. Despite the final result, he went 7-for-13 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. Speir's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bennett Christensen, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 17 points and four steals.

Benjamin Franklin's loss dropped their record down to 25-4. As for ALA - Ironwood, their record now sits at 17-9.

Benjamin Franklin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for ALA - Ironwood, they will face off against Yuma Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Yuma Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven matches -- so hopefully ALA - Ironwood likes a good challenge.
