Softball Game Preview: Fontbonne Academy Ducks vs. Notre Dame Academy Rebels

The Fontbonne Academy Ducks will face off against the Notre Dame Academy Rebels at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Fontbonne Academy fell victim to Cardinal Spellman and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Ducks have suffered against the Cardinals since April 16, 2018.

Haley Labrador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Tantasqua Regional.

Notre Dame Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mila Aldrin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Fontbonne Academy and nudges their season record down to 7-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Notre Dame Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.
