Baseball Recap: Neshannock Has No Trouble Against Northgate

After only one run in their last match, Neshannock made sure to put some runs up on the board against Northgate on Monday. The Lancers blew past the Flames 14-2. Considering the Lancers have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jake Rynd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Neshannock got a great performance from Denny Joseph as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Joseph has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Ryan Cameron was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nathan Rickel was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Neshannock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Neshannock has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Northgate, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Neshannock beat the Flames by a score of 12-1 on Wednesday.
