Softball Recap: Terra Nova Drops Season-High Score on El Camino

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Terra Nova). They put the hurt on the El Camino Colts with a sharp 23-1 victory on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Colts recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Liah Trade was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bonnie Barrango, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlyn Lobo, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one double.

Terra Nova kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Camino only managed one hit.

Terra Nova's victory bumped their record up to 4-9. As for El Camino, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Coming up, Terra Nova will challenge Mills at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for El Camino, they will take on Lincoln at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
