Soccer Recap: Mt. Carmel Comes Up Short

Mt. Carmel lost against Newton back in October of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Golden Aces came up short against the Eagles, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Mt. Carmel can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Newton are ranked 113th).

Mt. Carmel's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Newton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Mt. Carmel will challenge rival Richland County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Newton is set to face off against their familiar foe Robinson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
