Preview: Jonesboro Cardinals vs. Mundy's Mill Tigers

Jonesboro is 9-1 against Mundy's Mill since December of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Jonesboro Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Mundy's Mill Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jonesboro had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 44 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They breezed by Morrow at home to the tune of 75-34. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-16.

Jonesboro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Montez Redding led the charge by scoring 17 points along with five rebounds. The matchup was Redding's third in a row with at least ten points. Chris Jones was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mundy's Mill scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-69 victory over Rockdale County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mundy's Mill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dajuan Riddle, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Fred Umeano, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 16 rebounds.

Jonesboro now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mundy's Mill, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Jonesboro didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mundy's Mill in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 64-59 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Mundy's Mill's Antonio Johnson, jr., who scored 24 points. Now that he won't be playing on Tuesday, will it be that much easier for Jonesboro to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
