Softball Preview: Rochester Rams vs. South Side Rams
Rochester will venture away from home to face off against South Side at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Rochester is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
Rochester fell victim to Union Area and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 16-0 to the Scotties, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, South Side got themselves on the board against Cornell on Thursday, but Cornell never followed suit. They blew past the Raiders 15-0. Considering the Rams have won six matches by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Maya Ringhoff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, South Side got a massive performance out of Madison Morrow, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Karis Dunham was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
South Side is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Rochester, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
