Flat Rock extended their winning streak to five on Friday, bumping them up to 14-10-1. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Huron Chiefs. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Chiefs back in April, they had to take a 4-3 loss.
Emma Neace spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sarah Giroux, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jaclynn Motyka was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Flat Rock lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matchups.
As for Huron, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-7. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the four contests prior), but Flat Rock's pitcher proved too tough.
On Huron's side, Madison Kuzara put in work no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Kuzara was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with five stolen bases and two runs.
Kuzara wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Ramsby, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flat Rock will challenge Whiteford at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Huron, they will square off against Ypsilanti at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
