Football Recap: Spring Lake Comes Up Short

Spring Lake extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They took a 21-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Catholic Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Lakers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Falcons are ranked 28th).

As for West Catholic, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.8 points on average over those games.

West Catholic had a senior duo take command as Connor Olszewski rushed for 56 yards and one TD on only seven carries and Grady Augustyn threw for 257 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Spring Lake is set to face off against their familiar foe Wayland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, West Catholic will take on rival Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 879 yards in their previous games.
