5A Region IV District 25 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Smithson Valley extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region IV District 25 this week by beating Judson, 45-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Rangers.
Smithson Valley took down the Rockets 45-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
San Marcos's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zack Sterling threw for 103 and one touchdown and Brandon Matlock had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Mathew Madlock chipped in 94 yards. Madlock helped San Marcos' passing attack out by catching three balls for 29 yards.
San Marcos' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rattlers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Sterling has thrown for 464 yards and three touchdowns this season, while Matlock has six catches for 196 yards. Jonoah Fabian leads the league in rushing with 609 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Wagner takes on New Braunfels. The Thunderbirds are currently in second, while the Unicorns are in fourth.
Larry Hill's team led 5A Region IV District 25 in scoring this week after putting up 45 points on Judson.
