Football Recap: Tanque Verde Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Palo Verde last Friday, Tanque Verde came back down to earth. The Hawks fell 30-21 to the Benson Bobcats on Friday. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bobcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Rocco Haggard threw for 155 yards on seven of 18 attempts. Aiden Cooper was his top target, picking up 98 receiving yards. On the ground, Sebastian Blakeman rushed for 46 yards and one TD.

Dawson Judd had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 188 yards and two TDs for Benson. Those 112 rushing yards gave Judd a new career-high. Benson's leading receiver Jason Santo was Judd's top target yet again, picking up 86 receiving yards and one score.

Tanque Verde's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Benson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Coming up, Tanque Verde will head out to square off against Trivium Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Crimson Knights have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Benson, they will host Veritas Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' defense has only allowed eight points per game this season, so the Bobcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
