Baseball Recap: Robert C. Byrd Extends Winning Streak to Three

Robert C. Byrd took a ten-run defeat the last time they faced off against Buckhannon-Upshur, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles came out on top in a nail-biter against the Buccaneers on Tuesday, sneaking past 5-4. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three contests in a row.

Ashton Shaffer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cooper Floyd was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Robert C. Byrd's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Robert C. Byrd will take on East Fairmont at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Buckhannon-Upshur, they will head out to face off against Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Buccaneers are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
