Softball Game Preview: Jonesboro Cardinals vs. McDonough Warhawks + Official Tickets

The Jonesboro Cardinals will challenge the McDonough Warhawks at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Jonesboro and 16 for McDonough.

Jonesboro came up short against Sandy Creek on Tuesday, falling 20-5.

Nautika Stodghill stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Lamar, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McDonough came up short against Eagle's Landing on Wednesday and fell 17-13. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (11), the Warhawks still had to take the loss.

Kylei Buffington made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrianna Bennett, who got on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

McDonough's defeat dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Jonesboro, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

McDonough's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jonesboro hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .387. It's a different story for McDonough, though, as they've only averaged .179. Will they be able to contain Jonesboro's hitters?

Jonesboro took their win against McDonough when the teams last played back in September by a conclusive 16-5 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Warhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
