Baseball Game Preview: Highlands Scots vs. Lindhurst Blazers

For the second straight game, Highlands will face off against Lindhurst. The Scots will be playing at home against the Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Highlands is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.

On Tuesday, Highlands needed a bit of extra time to put away Lindhurst. They came out on top against the Blazers by a score of 11-7.

Najee Walker and Carlos Lopez-Vega made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Walker pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Meanwhile, Lopez-Vega tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Highlands is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-5 otherwise. At the plate, Walker went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs, while Lopez-Vega went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Walker a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabriel Rivera, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Chris Showen was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Highlands' win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Lindhurst, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.
