Recap: Portage Mustangs vs. Forest Hills Rangers
The Portage Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 74-55 to Forest Hills. While losing is never fun, Portage can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Forest Hills is ranked 120th).
Despite the defeat, Portage had strong showings from Bode Layo, who scored 17 points, and Zachary Hodge, who scored six points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Hodge, who scored five points.
Forest Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brandon Gregovich, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Koy McGough, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Portage dropped their record down to 7-7 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Forest Hills, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Portage will head out on the road to face off against Cambria Heights at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Forest Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Central Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
