Baseball Recap: Carrollton Sets Scoring Season-High Against Nouvel Catholic Central

Carrollton extended their losing streak to nine on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-9 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Nouvel Catholic Central Panthers. On the bright side, the five- run performance marked the Cavaliers' highest-scoring matchup to date.

As for Nouvel Catholic Central, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Nouvel Catholic Central's part, Cam Kaul made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Kaul has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, Parker Kingsbury was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That hit marked the first that he has got this season. Another player making a difference was Mathew Kusowski, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one run.
