Recap: Houston Christian Mustangs vs. Cistercian Hawks

After losing to The Cistercian Hawks the last time they met, the Houston Christian Mustangs decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Houston Christian really took it to Cistercian for the full four quarters, racking up a 31-3 victory at home. The result was nothing new for Houston Christian, who have now won three contests by 28 points or more so far this season.

Houston Christian can attribute much of their success to Ewan Smith, who rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries. Bret Kilchrist was another key contributor, throwing for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

Houston Christian's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.7 points per game. As for Cistercian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.

Houston Christian will head out on the road to face off against Oakridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakridge has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since August 25th. As for Cistercian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenhill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Greenhill is ranked 947th, while Cistercian is ranked 950th).
