Basketball Recap: Nandua Warriors vs. Chincoteague Ponies
The Nandua Warriors won the last time they faced the Chincoteague Ponies, and things went their way on Thursday too. Nandua walked away with a 63-53 victory over the Ponies.
Nandua got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cody Ragone out in front who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ragone has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Makai Dorn, who scored 13 points.
Chincoteague's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jake Harper, who scored 14 points along with seven assists. Jordan Harper was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven assists and two blocks.
The victory got Nandua back to even at 7-7. As for Chincoteague, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nandua will face off against the Islanders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Poquoson is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Chincoteague, they will head out on the road to square off against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northampton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 544 points over their last seven matches.
