Softball Game Preview: Ontario Jaguars vs. Montclair Cavaliers

Ontario is 2-8 against Montclair since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Jaguars will host the Cavaliers at 3:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Ontario is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Friday. They lost 11-0 to Diamond Ranch. The match marked the first time this year in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Ontario saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Melanie Carillo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double.

Meanwhile, Montclair came up short against Don Lugo on Friday, falling 14-1. The loss continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their meetings with the Conquistadores: they've now lost eight in a row.

Montclair's defeat dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Ontario, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Ontario hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Montclair struggles in that department as they've averaged .353. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
