Baseball Recap: El Monte Lions vs. Marshall Eagles

El Monte extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 37 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-19 in the process. They came up short against the Marshall Eagles, falling 12-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in April.

El Monte saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaime Hernandez, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double.

As for Marshall, their win bumped their record up to 16-6-1. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On Marshall's side, Ben Level looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Level has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nate Callaway was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Trevor Lain was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

As of now, neither El Monte nor Marshall have any future games scheduled.
