Softball Game Recap: Burgettstown Blue Devils vs. McGuffey Highlanders

Burgettstown had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 4-5 to make it four. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-2 to the McGuffey Highlanders, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Blue Devils were not able to make up for their defeat to the Highlanders from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.

As for McGuffey, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-5. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For McGuffey's part, Courtney Bedillion spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. Bedillion has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Miley Main was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Burgettstown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for McGuffey, they will square off against Waynesburg Central at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
