Basketball Game Preview: Columbus Falcons vs. Vicksburg Gators

The Columbus Falcons are taking a road trip to challenge the Vicksburg Gators at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Columbus knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Vicksburg likes a good challenge.

Columbus is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: Ridgeland, who was ranked fourth at the time (Columbus was ranked second). Columbus came out on top against Ridgeland by a score of 67-57 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Vicksburg didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Callaway on Friday, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Columbus' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Vicksburg, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-11.

Columbus beat Vicksburg 69-58 when the teams last played on January 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Columbus since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
