Basketball Recap: Elkhorn North's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Elkhorn North can now relate to. They took a 60-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bennington Badgers on Thursday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Elkhorn North came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth in Nebraska, while Bennington is ranked 27th in Nebraska).

Austin Kaiser continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Bennington, almost dropping a double-double with 29 points and nine rebounds. Kaiser's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Olson, who posted 13 points.

Elkhorn North's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points over those games. As for Bennington, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season.

As of now, neither Elkhorn North nor Bennington have any future games scheduled.
