Basketball Game Preview: North Central Hurricanes vs. East Iberville Tigers

The North Central Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the East Iberville Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

North Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 56-45 win over Varnado. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hurricanes.

Christopher Clennon continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Joseph, who posted 16 points.

Meanwhile, East Iberville didn't have too much trouble with South Plaquemines on Friday as they won 66-47. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while the Hurricanes are ranked 344th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Central pushed their record up to 13-19 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.2 points over those games. As for East Iberville, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-14 record this season.

North Central couldn't quite finish off East Iberville in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 63-60. Can North Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
