Softball Recap: RHAM Comes Up Short

RHAM extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-4 in the process. They came up short against the Bristol Eastern Lancers, falling 19-7. If the Raptors were looking for revenge after losing 11-0 to the Lancers when the teams met back in April of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Bristol Eastern, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 7-0. Considering they have won four matches by more than 11 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Bristol Eastern's part, Hailey Beebe made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Beebe has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Emily Valentine was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. She has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gracie Brown, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases.

Looking ahead, RHAM will welcome Platt at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Bristol Eastern, they will venture away from home to take on Rocky Hill at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
