Football Recap: Kosciusko Skates Past Florence with Ease

Kosciusko barely beat Florence the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Whippets really took it to the Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-0 victory. Given the Whippets' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Eagles are ranked 88th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kosciusko's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caiden Wade, who threw for 205 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. That's the most passing yards Wade has posted since back in October of 2024. Cj Sandifer helped Wade out on the ground, rushing for 97 yards on only 13 carries, while also picking up 33 receiving yards and one score.

Kosciusko has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 45.5 points this season. As for Florence, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Kosciusko will look to defend their home field on Friday against Leake Central at 7:00 p.m. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 961 yards in their previous games. As for Florence, they will head out on the road to square off against Pearl at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
