Basketball Recap: Meridian Find Success

Meridian not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since December 17, 2024 (when they won 63-20). They were the clear victors by a 59-38 margin over the Bell County Homeschool Association Guardians. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Yellowjackets just coasted through the last quarter.

Guillermo Ortiz was nothing short of spectacular: he went 12-for-24 en route to 29 points and four steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 16 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Scott, who shot 46% from the field to rack up 16 points and five boards.

Meridian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Bell County Homeschool Association, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Meridian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cranfills Gap at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bell County Homeschool Association, they will face off against Methodist Children's Home at 7:00 p.m. on December 2.
