Preview: Aqsa Legends vs. Islamic Foundation Chargers
The Aqsa Legends will head out on the road to take on the Islamic Foundation Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Aqsa will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Even though Aqsa has not done well against Universal recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Aqsa blew past Universal 56-31. Aqsa's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Aqsa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Fatmah Sughayar out in front who scored 20 points. That's the first time this season that Sughayar scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Gisele Arouri, who scored 18 points.
Meanwhile, Islamic Foundation had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 31-30 victory over College Prep of America.
Aqsa's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Islamic Foundation, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
Aqsa skirted past Islamic Foundation 32-30 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Aqsa since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
