Basketball Game Preview: Riverton Wolverines vs. Rock Springs TIGERS

The Riverton Wolverines will challenge the Rock Springs TIGERS at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Riverton fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Natrona County on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 57-56 to the Mustangs. The Wolverines have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riverton might have lost, but man, Malachi Smith was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 28 points and 16 boards. What's more, Smith also posted a 60% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Eric Smith, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rock Springs, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Jackson Hole on Saturday as Rock Springs made off with a 63-38 victory.

Riverton's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Rock Springs, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Riverton skirted past Rock Springs 57-55 in their previous meeting last Thursday. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Rock Springs' Boston James, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds.
