Basketball Recap: Amanda Elzy Panthers vs. O'Bannon Greenwaves
Amanda Elzy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 16th straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 55-44 to the O'Bannon Greenwaves. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-14 back in November.
O'Bannon found their leader in sophomore Landyn Winters, who went 9 of 14 en route to 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Winters has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cordario Calvin, who posted 13 points.
Amanda Elzy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-15. As for O'Bannon, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Amanda Elzy Panthers challenge the Edwards Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Edwards knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Amanda Elzy likes a good challenge. As for O'Bannon, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 57-52 win against West Bolivar on the 20th.
