Softball Recap: Winona Comes Up Short

Winona fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Alton on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 9-8. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost seven in a row.

Winona saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Crider, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and one run. Alexis Hagler was another, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.

Winona's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Alton, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11.

As of now, neither Winona nor the Comets have any future games scheduled.
