St. Stephens took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Foard, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The St. Stephens Indians narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Foard Tigers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Indians have posted since April 12, 2024.

Anicka McFarland was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.

McFarland wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Addison Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory made it two in a row for St. Stephens and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Foard, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

St. Stephens will have a chance to go back-to-back against Foard: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
