Basketball Game Preview: Key Obezags vs. Calverton

The Key Obezags will venture away from home to take on Calverton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Key is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52 points per game this season.

Key is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Severn Run just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 53-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolves. While the Obezags didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 15-4 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Key saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Anjo Yette went 6 for 10 en route to 14 points and five steals. Noah Moore was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, Calverton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 77-36 loss at the hands of Takoma Academy. While losing is never fun, Calverton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while Takoma Academy is ranked 107th).

Calverton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Key, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.
