Baseball Game Preview: Cedar Grove Panthers vs. Verona Hillbillies

The Cedar Grove Panthers will face off against the Verona Hillbillies at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Grove will be strutting in after a win while Verona will be coming in after a loss.

On Wednesday, Cedar Grove made easy work of Clifton and carried off a 12-2 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Verona's offense. They lost 13-0 to Millburn on Wednesday. The Hillbillies have struggled against the Millers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Cedar Grove has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Verona, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Cedar Grove couldn't quite finish off Verona when the teams last played on Friday and fell 8-6. Can the Panthers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
