Softball Recap: Jefferson County Has No Trouble Against Morristown-Hamblen East

Jefferson County lost to Morristown-Hamblen East last Sunday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Hurricanes with a sharp 12-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Patriots.

Olivia Mottern spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Zoe Lawson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, one run, and one double. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayli Reece, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Jefferson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Jefferson County's win bumped their record up to 12-15-1. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-10-1.

Coming up, Jefferson County will head out to square off against Bearden at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Morristown-Hamblen East, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Claiborne at 5:30 p.m.
