Basketball Recap: Gavin Mccord's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chrisman over Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine

After flying high against Judah Christian on Friday, Chrisman came back down to earth. The Cardinals received a blow on Friday as they fell 75-61 to Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 87-61 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin McCord, who posted 22 points and three steals. That was a full 36.1% of Chrisman's points, marking the fifth time in a row McCord has scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Statler Mitchell, who put up 19 points and eight rebounds.

Chrisman dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Looking ahead, Chrisman will look to defend their home court on Thursday against La Salette Academy at 7:30 p.m. As for Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine, they will head out on the road to square off against Lawrenceville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
