Softball Game Preview: Central Crossing Comets vs. Hilliard Bradley Jaguars

The Central Crossing Comets will venture away from home to face off against the Hilliard Bradley Jaguars at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Crossing is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Central Crossing fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Circleville on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-3.

Hayliee Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Makayla Unrue was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Hilliard Bradley fell victim to Sheridan and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Generals. The game marked the first time this year in which the Jaguars were not able to get on the board.

Central Crossing's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Hilliard Bradley, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

Central Crossing suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Hilliard Bradley in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
