Breese Central entered their tilt with Columbia on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Columbia Eagles by a score of 62-53. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 53-43 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Columbia lost, don't look at Sam Donald. Despite the final result, he posted 30 points. That's the most points Donald has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eddie Smajic, who earned ten points.

Breese Central pushed their record up to 22-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Columbia, they suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 21-5.

Breese Central and Columbia should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Breese Central (ranked 37th) will meet Freeburg (ranked 370th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Columbia will face off against Roxana at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 244 places (46 vs. 290).
