Basketball Recap: Savannah Comes Up Short

Savannah was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 47-21 to the Screven County Gamecocks. The contest marked the Bluejackets' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Leading Screven County to victory were Achanti Middleton and Jaliah Roberts. Middleton posted 17 points in addition to six boards and six steals, while Roberts went 7 for 17 on her way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Those six rebounds gave Middleton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Jackson, who earned six points and three steals.

Savannah's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Screven County, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Jenkins County the next time they take the court. Savannah will head out to face Jenkins County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while Screven County will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
