Football Game Preview: Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils vs. Gardendale Rockets

The Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils will take on the Gardendale Rockets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mortimer Jordan will be strutting in after a victory while Gardendale will be coming in after a defeat.

Mortimer Jordan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 35-14 margin over Minor on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Blue Devils as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

Mortimer Jordan's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Reno, who rushed for 142 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. What's more, Reno posted two rushing touchdowns, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Tanner Rice was another key receiver, gaining 172 total yards and a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Gardendale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 42-9 defeat at the hands of Homewood. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Patriots are ranked 37th).

Gardendale's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Mortimer Jordan, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-5.

Mortimer Jordan strolled past Gardendale in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 34-20. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
