Basketball Recap: Westminster Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Westminster Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Divine Savior Academy Sharks by a score of 63-61. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sharks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the loss, Westminster Christian still got an impressive performance from Julian Crespo, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 27 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Crespo a new career-high in blocks (two). Dwight Whipple was another key player, going 5 of 12 en route to 15 points and five boards.

Divine Savior Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was David Watson out in front who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The game was Watson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sajoni Vargas, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and seven boards.

Westminster Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Divine Savior Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-3.

Westminster Christian has already played their next contest, a 71-68 victory against Miami Country Day on the 15th. As for Divine Savior Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 72-62 loss against True North Classical Academy on the 15th.
