Basketball Recap: Andrew Russell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coahulla Creek over Sonoraville

Coahulla Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 62-58 heartbreaker at the hands of the Sonoraville Phoenix. That's two games in a row now that the Colts have lost by exactly four points.

Coahulla Creek lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Andrew Russell, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 13 points. Those 13 points gave Russell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Waelyn Baliles, who posted seven points and 15 boards.

Coahulla Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Sonoraville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Coahulla Creek has already played their next matchup, a 78-58 loss against Union County on the 22nd. As for Sonoraville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-64 defeat against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe on the 21st.
