Softball Recap: New Bremen Takes a Loss

New Bremen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shawnee Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 9-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Lily Hibner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

New Bremen's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Shawnee, their record is now 13-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Bremen will take on Anna at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Cardinals' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Shawnee, they will challenge Wapakoneta at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Indians 3.8, the Redskins 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
