Volleyball Recap: Evie Gamroth's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Racine Lutheran over Clinton

If Racine Lutheran was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Palmyra-Eagle on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Crusaders fell just short of the Clinton Cougars by a score of 2-1 on Saturday. While the Crusaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-18 in the first set.

Racine Lutheran started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-21, 15-12.

Racine Lutheran's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Evie Gamroth, who had 16 assists and seven digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Weidner, who had seven digs and two aces.

Racine Lutheran now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Clinton, their victory ended an 11-match drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-15.

Racine Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Big Foot on the 11th. As for Clinton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Monroe on the 11th.
