Football Recap: Rutland Comes Up Short

Rutland fell victim to Jackson and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Red Devils, falling 44-0. The Hurricanes have struggled against the Red Devils recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Danarri Brown was his usual excellent self, rushing for 206 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries, while also catching one score for Jackson. Brown's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Canaan Bernhardt was another key player, throwing for 139 yards and one TD.

Rutland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Jackson, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rutland will host Morgan County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Jackson, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pike County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Devils will be up against the Pirates' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.33 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
